Summary

Emily Thornton feels delighted at the happy conclusion of her daughter’s wedding. The Prime Minister’s attendance was a most distinct triumph and should help the career of her husband David, a junior minister. However, among the wedding photos, brought by a cab driver, are some very different ones, showing David in a compromising situation with a prostitute. David has a reasonable explanation, which Emily accepts, but blackmail is obviously intended. David offers the Prime Minister his resignation, but Emily’s father, the ebullient Earl, comes up with a scheme for his rehabilitation. A story is leaked to the Press involving Young Freddy, a sexually frustrated schoolboy, but this brings the lady herself to the house, indignant at what she considers an insult to her profession. However, a revised plan proves satisfactory to everyone, not least the Earl himself.
